Michelle Mizerany, RN, Named Princeton BMC Employee of the Year
Birmingham, Alabama—February 14, 2013—Michelle Mizerany, RN, was named Princeton Baptist Medical Center employee of the year for 2012.
Michelle is a registered nurse at Princeton and works in the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab Department and is part of a congestive heart failure education team.
Her role on the CHF team is to education CHF patients on what they can do to stay healthy and avoid a readmission to the hospital.
She sees patients in-house and then follows up with them by phone after they are discharged to monitor their progress. If the patient needs assistance obtaining their medications, access to blood pressure machines, acquiring a scale or dietary counseling, Michelle and her team are a resource to ensure the patients can get what they need.
Her efforts have yielded impressive results reducing CHF 30-day admissions from 25.5 percent in 2011 to 15.8 percent during 2012.
“I am so honored to receive this award and I want to acknowledge the amazing team of professionals that I work with in achieving these results for Princeton,” she said.
Michelle started her career at Princeton in 1985. She is a Homewood resident.
